Christian Dior House’s Emblematic Creations Get a ‘Toile De Jouy’ Makeover in A Red Floral Version to Celebrate the Chinese New Year

-

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the House’s emblematic creations get a toile de Jouy makeover in a red floral version.

A symbol of luck, joy and abundance, red is the color of the Spring Festival. Get a head start of the celebratory atmosphere with this series of poetically meaningful and flower-bedecked pieces specially designed for the occasion by Maria Grazia Chiuri.

For the cruise 2019 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri reinterpreted toile de Jouy, a motif dear to Christian Dior who, as early as 1947, used it in the decoration of his boutique, “Colifichets”, located at 30 Avenue Montaigne.
And now, especially for Chinese New Year, the Creative Director set red hydrangeas abloom on this iconic canvas – now a key code and signature of the House – evoking the founding couturier’s passion for flowers, as well as for a color he deemed “the color of life”.
Associated with grace, gratitude and prosperity, hydrangeas also reconnect with Christian Dior’s superstitious spirit, blossoming across on a series of unique and poetically symbolic pieces.

From the Dior Saddle to the 'Walk'n'Dior' sneakers, get your dose of red with the limited capsule for the Spring Festival from the Dior Cruise 2019 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri!⠀
