Debuted on Air Max Day, the Nike x Cactus Plant Flea Market VaporMax 2019 reimagines the future-forward silhouette with a deft balance of its inherent technicality and CPFM’s two-fold design intent.
First, by introducing 3D puff lettering, stitched taping, mismatched coloring and a wobbly Swoosh (formed by garden wiring), the VaporMax takes a hand-made feel. This human quality connects to the second intent: highlighting the natural beauty of “in-between time,” the moments in dawn and dusk that define a city’s particular color field. This concept, specifically the optical phenomenon of a green flash — a sliver of green that appears upon the crest of the sun as it merges with the horizon — inspired the color choices.
The Nike x CPFM VaporMax 2019 releases globally on May 14 on the SNKRS and SNEAKRS apps, and at select NikeLab retail locations worldwide.
